Pla som (ปลาส้ม)? Fermented fish? Som (ส้ม) = sour or acidic taste (pickled).
Fermented fish is one kind of food preservation that is prevalent in Southeast Asia. Is a processing of fresh fish seasoned with fish, salt, garlic, cooked rice, until fermented with a sour taste, both using the whole fish And the type that is used only for fish When eaten, cooked with toasted or fried
Nutrition
Fermented fish is a fermented food from fish that has a relatively high nutritional value. Protein, vitamins and minerals are given, but pla is not suitable for people with kidney disease. Because of the high salt content
ingredient
1 kg carp
400 grams of salt
1 Tbsp. Seasoning powder
100 grams cooked rice
100 grams garlic
1 liter of water
How to do
1. Wash the fish Remove all the filling Use a chevron knife on the fish
2. Mix salt and water to dissolve.
3. Bring the fish to soak in the salt water for about 2-3 hours. Use the handle to see the fish will be hard.
4. Enough soaked water to wash and leave to drain.
5. Mix the fish with the garlic flavored rice, taste well into the meat, stuff the ingredients in the fish's belly.
6. Put it in a plastic bag. Leave for 4 - 5 days until sour.
7. When the sour fish has been stored in a sealed box or bag Put it in the refrigerator
8. When eating, fry until done. Served with sliced onions, fresh paprika

There is a moo som that is actually "orange pork" but there may also be fermented pork as well, I suspect there is but I'm not sure. Of course there is the fermented Isaan pork sausage naaem moo (แหนมหมู).
Mrs. S loves pla som, she brings it home often. She always fries it and I like it that way.

Pork chop, mashed potatoes, steamed carrots, spinach. Delicioso.
Also, my wife brought home these little babies.
They taste like perfect brownies, but they look like choco-balls.
