Day 3 in Fat Hamlays diet.

Breakfast - Quakers Oats with apple and cinnamon
Morning Snack - Red Bull, 2 Coffees and nuts
Lunch - Lamb curry with naan bread
Dinner - Parma Ham and Strawberries

Maybe morning snack and lunch were questionable but other 2 not too bad. Dinner was only strawberries until the wife opened a packet of great Parma Ham and made me help finish the pack.

No booze since NYE. Feeling great apart from Covid which I smashed in a day anyway 8-)
Nuts are fine cashew/almonds/walnuts all good, lamb curry perfectly acceptable :D parma ham good saturated facts so a good start :D

The wife and niece each had a Heineken, I had my usual cha manao. I think the dish might be called pad cha talay. It was really hot/spicy. When the wife keeps repeating "phet, phet" you know it's spicier than normal. I thought is was delicious and I because the recipe includes a lot of phrik Thai (white pepper) as well as chilis it's a bit different "hot" than the normal "Thai hot". I've noticed that white or black pepper tastes much spicier to the wife than it does to me. I can't come close to her ability to handle the heat of Thai chilis though.

Those chilis resemble Scotch Bonnets or some hybrid thereof. Healthy looking plants and fruit. We brought back Habanero, Bhut Jolokia (ghost chili) and Trinidad Scorpion seeds to Thailand from the States but had no luck getting them to germinate. They may have been too old, I just don't know. The missus actually preferred the Habanero chilis when we are there. They are usually available in the markets and pack a pretty solid punch.

I've been eating Mexican and Indian food for ages and Thai restaurants are becoming more popular in the States. However, none of the the Indian or Mexican dishes come even close to the "blow your head off" spiciness of some of the Isaan concoctions I've tried to eat. I think it is just the huge amount of phrik kee nu that they use is what makes the difference.

I buy a full loin at Thai-French Beef and cut my own steaks. Can usually get a dozen or so. A little thicker for me who likes them a bit rare and a little thinner for the missus who prefers hers medium to well. She is starting to get the idea now though and will eat her steaks when "pinkish". By having both thick and thin steaks they will come off the grill at the same time but cooked to different levels of doneness.
