taste like the gusset of a Turks underpants

Plenty of that smell around Isaan. It's the Lao influence, dirt soup, weed salad, rice paddy seafood, smash it all up so it's unidentifiable and then douse it in lava prik peppers so you can't taste any of it. Chew on a hunk of buffalo hide* for dessert.

For dinner I'm having batter-fried sole with (lashings, dollops, or smear) of tartar (speaking of Turks) sauce and air-fried spud wedges w/ roast garlic.

*Sold in Tha Sadet, Nong Khai, and select boutique stalls around Udon. Still has the hair on it. 120B/kg.

And your recent purchase of Rose chocolates :o ,me thinks january will be the month of dieting :) 8-)

Correct, and I haven't even gotten to the pumpkin and pecan pies that are yet to be made. A couple of weeks from now I'll be eating Mrs. Shado's vegetable laden Isaan delights. Hold the rice and noodles!

Another favorite by Mrs. S for dinner tonight. แกงเขียวหวาน (gaeng khiao waan) = sweet green curry with rice and roti. Excellent combo.

Travelled to Tier 2 Harrogate from Batley again for a pre Xmas lunch and beers at The Ivy. Smoked salmon with crab for starters and Chicken Milanese for main. My partner was happy to stay at home and eat her crab stick curry.

Sausages and onion gravy. Baked a pumpkin this afternoon, may make a pie tomorrow.
